Traditions significantly shape a community’s values and character. While the Mexican community in Morris only began flourishing approximately 10 years ago, Morris is now a place where unique multicultural traditions are taking shape. In particular, the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Mary’s Catholic School have played pivotal roles in forging these new traditions. The establishment of our very first Dia de los Muertos ofrenda, inspired by Michoacan’s rich history, is yet another example of our community’s growing multiculturalism that is rooted in shared values such as religious devotion and collaboration. We hope to instill these values in our children for generations to come!
Thank you to everyone who helped create this beautiful ofrenda! It is such a beautiful way to collaborate and celebrate the cultures in our school, parish and community.
