On Thursday, May 7th students from 1st and 2nd grade participated in a field trip. They visited a Historic Chippewa City (also known as Heritage Village) in Montevideo, MN. The experience took students back in time where they learned what life was like for the pioneers.

The city is home to the Chippewa County Historical Society, begun in 1865 with the preservation of a rural school house. Since that time, 24 buildings have been moved in from throughout the county, or built on site, to form this historic village. Buildings include shops, a bank, church, school house, and authentic log cabins. Volunteers dressed in costume at each location spoke with students about what pioneers may have experienced in their time.
